Most crypto lovers and investors’ first choice is to check market moves using CoinMarketCap (CMC) website.

No doubt that the website provides the best overview of crypto assets prices, but blind trust can mislead.

All the data you see on CMC is not always up to the point; previous incidents prove it. In 2017, CMC had wrongly mentioned some data about XRP coin, and investors who trusted the data ended up Rekt. In 2018, they delisted Karkern exchange for some time, which brought a drastic change in data.

On top of all this, in 2020, CMC was acquired by Binance, the number one crypto exchange in the world. This acquisition raises questions about the data provided on CMC, even though Binance stated CMC continues as a separate identity.

These incidents force us to look at some alternative solutions.

Luckily in this post, I’m listing 10 best alternatives for CMC, highlighting some of their unique features.

If you visit the CoinGecko website for the first time, it seems too much familiar to CoinMarketCap.

To notice the difference, you have to click on any crypto asset, and it provides every information about the crypto, such as developers, website, wallets, communities, and also allows you to quickly see the exchanging price of the coin in USD or vice versa. Even you can express your opinion about the currency price on that day. All these results are shown on one page, so you don’t have to click multiple tabs.

Compared to CMC, CoinGecko shows 2000 more crypto asset prices with detailed exchange volume analysis, but all these price data are taken from only 430 exchanges, compared to CMC which shows more than 20,000. This is because CoinGecko only selects the exchanges based on the trust rank.

Besides the website, they also offer Android and iOS apps, API, Widgets, and Stack Sats, which predict the future profit of coins if you stake them.

Recently, they started to provide the listing of DeFi coins as well.

2. CryptoCompare.

CryptoCompare presents all the data visually in real time.

Also, it is considered as the one-stop-shop for all crypto things; you can view rankings of more than 5,000 cryptos, with recent trades displayed in real time. Filter coins by proof type or algorithm, view mining information, and read reviews of wallets.

But rather than showing prices, CryptoCompare is famous for their beta version of a portfolio management web app where you can add, buy/sell details of your crypto investments to conclude.

Like the above websites, Coin360 also rack a live crypto prices.

But one thing that differentiates Coin360 from all the others is their map view, which presents all the required data in a single page-like map.

Also, their “Liquidity Book” monitors the best liquidity for a given transaction amount, helping you trade cryptos quickly.

Their news ticker at the bottom of the website makes it easier for you to get updates on the latest incidents happening in the crypto world.

5. CoinCodex.

Similar to CoinGecko, CoinCodex also shows the same amount of crypto prices, but from fewer exchanges (only 316).

Their website layout looks familiar to CoinMarketCap; however, they stand out from all the above exchanges because of their IEO platforms and Dapps listing features.

CoinCap API is also available for developers, which provides insights into exactly which exchanges and markets contribute to CoinCap’s pricing. For all endpoints, a single page offers 100 responses by default and supports up to 2,000 responses per page upon request.

Messari is not for someone who is merely looking to know the price movement of crypto. It is specifically designed for serious traders and crypto experts.

Their weekly newsletters and other types of market analysis are valued tools used by many professionals in the industry.

The free version of Messari is not bad at all; you’ll get a ton of options for gaining a good understanding of price movements. However, the pro version gives you the freedom to customize your dashboard, team access, expert long-form weekly research, and many more features.
