10 Best Alternatives for CoinMarketCap

Most crypto lovers and investors’ first choice is to check market moves using CoinMarketCap (CMC) website.

No doubt that the website provides the best overview of crypto assets prices, but blind trust can mislead.

All the data you see on CMC is not always up to the point; previous incidents prove it. In 2017, CMC had wrongly mentioned some data about XRP coin, and investors who trusted the data ended up Rekt. In 2018, they delisted Karkern exchange for some time, which brought a drastic change in data.

On top of all this, in 2020, CMC was acquired by Binance, the number one crypto exchange in the world. This acquisition raises questions about the data provided on CMC, even though Binance stated CMC continues as a separate identity.

These incidents force us to look at some alternative solutions.

Luckily in this post, I’m listing 10 best alternatives for CMC, highlighting some of their unique features.

1. CoinGecko.

coingecko website

If you visit the CoinGecko website for the first time, it seems too much familiar to CoinMarketCap.

To notice the difference, you have to click on any crypto asset, and it provides every information about the crypto, such as developers, website, wallets, communities, and also allows you to quickly see the exchanging price of the coin in USD or vice versa. Even you can express your opinion about the currency price on that day. All these results are shown on one page, so you don’t have to click multiple tabs.

Compared to CMC, CoinGecko shows 2000 more crypto asset prices with detailed exchange volume analysis, but all these price data are taken from only 430 exchanges, compared to CMC which shows more than 20,000. This is because CoinGecko only selects the exchanges based on the trust rank.

Besides the website, they also offer Android and iOS apps, API, Widgets, and Stack Sats, which predict the future profit of coins if you stake them.

Recently, they started to provide the listing of DeFi coins as well.

2. CryptoCompare.

cryptocompare-website

CryptoCompare presents all the data visually in real time.

Also, it is considered as the one-stop-shop for all crypto things; you can view rankings of more than 5,000 cryptos, with recent trades displayed in real time. Filter coins by proof type or algorithm, view mining information, and read reviews of wallets.

But rather than showing prices, CryptoCompare is famous for their beta version of a portfolio management web app where you can add, buy/sell details of your crypto investments to conclude.

3. Live Coin Watch.

livecoinwatch website

As a name suggest, the website shows the live price movement of over 3000 cryptos.

Not only price movements, but they also show demand and supply, market movers data, exchanges activity, and an overview of the crypto market since the beginning. All these data are provided to you live, so you don’t have to refresh the site.

One thing I liked about Live Coin Watch is their customizable feature that lets you customize every layout on the website.

And like CryptoCompare, they also have a portfolio section, which is helpful for tracking your portfolio in real-time.

4. Coin360.

coin360 website

Like the above websites, Coin360 also rack a live crypto prices.

But one thing that differentiates Coin360 from all the others is their map view, which presents all the required data in a single page-like map.

Also, their “Liquidity Book” monitors the best liquidity for a given transaction amount, helping you trade cryptos quickly.

Their news ticker at the bottom of the website makes it easier for you to get updates on the latest incidents happening in the crypto world.

5. CoinCodex.

coincodex website

Similar to CoinGecko, CoinCodex also shows the same amount of crypto prices, but from fewer exchanges (only 316).

Their website layout looks familiar to CoinMarketCap; however, they stand out from all the above exchanges because of their IEO platforms and Dapps listing features.

The Dapps list provides you with complete information about Dapps, and the IEO platform list gives you full insights into the top 5 best, secure platforms for investments.

Additionally, CoinCodex provides updates on upcoming events related to cryptos and Blockchain.

6. Coinlib.

coinlib website

If you visit Coinlib for the first time, it may feel like you’re on a clone website of Live Coin Watch. However, you’ll notice a drastic difference between both websites after spending some time on the site.

Among all the websites mentioned above, Coinlib is relatively new to the market, operating since 2017. Despite being new, they have acquired a good landscape in the crypto price tracker market due to some unique features.

One of Coinlib’s unique features is that it allows you to compare any 4 different coins based on various criteria, such as specifications, trading volume, price performances, and market caps, helping you make better trading decisions.

Another unique feature is the listing of top fiat currencies, which helps you get a clear picture of the market.

7. CoinCheckup.

coincheckup website

CoinCheckup is also a new entry to the market, operating since 2017.

The platform does not have a drastic difference in showing price details, but one feature that makes the platform stand out from all the others above is the “Analysis” feature.

The Analysis feature provides you with deep insights into a coin using two different methods: Fundamental and Investment analysis, which are very helpful for making investment decisions.

Fundamental analysis gives you a behind-the-scenes picture of a coin, such as the development team, brand, algorithm, social media presence, and the business they are aiming for, etc.

Investment analysis provides you with statistics about coins, such as All-Time High, ROI, Winning month, etc.

8. BitInfoCharts.

bitinfocharts website

BitInfoCharts is the best website that gives you detailed statistics about the technical aspects of cryptos, especially mining.

In addition to showing prices, they include the block time, block count, block reward, the value of the top 100 rich list, wealth distribution across the top addresses, the largest transactions in the last 24 hours, the last GitHub commit, and a whole lot more.

Although I cannot explain all the unique features they have in this post, I’ll need a dedicated one to cover them.

However, one drawback is the website design. The design looks like you’re seeing a website that was made back in the early era of the internet.

9. CoinCap.

CoinCap-website

If you don’t need fancy charts or alerts, then CoinCap is for you.

CoinCap is a simple coin tracking platform that gives real-time insight into crypto prices and the exchange volume.

There are no charts and tickers. There are only three columns: a list of coins and their prices, and 24-hour volume. This also applies to exchange data.

CoinCaps Android and iOS apps available, which give you the chart option.

Moreover, there are limited coins and exchanges listed, so you can focus on more top currencies.

CoinCap API is also available for developers, which provides insights into exactly which exchanges and markets contribute to CoinCap’s pricing. For all endpoints, a single page offers 100 responses by default and supports up to 2,000 responses per page upon request.

10. Messari.

messari website

Messari is not for someone who is merely looking to know the price movement of crypto. It is specifically designed for serious traders and crypto experts.

Many industry experts are behind the creation of Messari, all aiming to bring transparency into the crypto economy using the platform.

Their weekly newsletters and other types of market analysis are valued tools used by many professionals in the industry.

The free version of Messari is not bad at all; you’ll get a ton of options for gaining a good understanding of price movements. However, the pro version gives you the freedom to customize your dashboard, team access, expert long-form weekly research, and many more features.

Conclusion.

These are the best websites out there in the market as alternatives to CMC.

From the list, you may not get all the features you are looking for in just one website, including CMC. However, each one aims to provide the best insights into crypto prices.

Let me know in the comments which website you would pick as an alternative to CMC.

Or if you have already used one, share your experience in the comments. It may provide some valuable information for others.
